My Struggles AND Success with Consistency

Being consistent in ANYTHING is challenging. It can have both positive and negative effects on our lifestyle.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU DO DAILY!

Personally, I have had great success in my life by exercising, eating healthier, and stretching on a daily basis. This started at the beginning of my weight loss journey and still continues today! Due to joint issues, rheumatoid arthritis, and hip surgery my routine is less intense and a more functional workout. Even though my workouts have changed I am still consistent in doing something everyday! I have been walking on a daily basis, and incorporating the stationary bike as well as Pilates and stretching.

Recently I have been struggling with healthy eating habits. However, being regimented with meal prep, lots of protein and veggies and eating low carb have always seemed to work the best for me. Not being able to run anymore combined with consuming some extra calories, eating foods that I normally wouldn’t, and age have led to unwanted weight gain. For the first time in MANY years inconsistency has had a negative effect on me. It has also been an eye opener to really focus and get back on track, although it does get more difficult with age.

I know the importance of consistency- it has worked for me for over 20 years!

On a positive note- I have seen great success with my clients that have been consistent, one of the best parts of my job!

WHY THEY ARE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Consistency - the number one reason they progress is they regularly attend their sessions.

  • Put in the work- showing up is step one, but actually doing what it takes to make a difference is key.

  • Make it a habit- habits are hard to break, but they are also easy to stick with once formed.

The more consistently you do something, the easier it becomes!

IF WE ONLY DID THINGS WHEN WE WANTED TO, WE WOULD NEVER BE SUCCESSFUL!

Pushing through workouts, staying motivated, resisting temptations, planning meals, and staying consistent with a routine will all lead to long lasting changes. That is the ultimate goal. Most of us can stick to good habits temporarily, not quitting is the KEY!
